Natural wine is wine that is made without manipulation in the vineyard and the cellar. While this seems straightforward it's not commonplace. Most wine comes from chemically farmed vineyards and sees a variety of additives throughout the fermentation process (there are 76 FDA approved additives that are not required to be labeled). We believe that wines made without intervention speak to a sense of the place they come from and that they are be better for environmental and human health (but hey, we are not doctors). Natural wine is often pigeon-holed as funky wine. And while this style of wine does exist, there are natural wines made in just about every style and region of the wine world. It’s a farming and fermentation philosophy, not a flavor profile.
